01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Diners who came for the salted tongue describe it as thick-cut yet easy to bite through, with a garlicky seasoning that pairs well with lemon. At Tomato House, it makes a good place to start before moving on to skirt steak, loin and fillet to compare the different cuts. Another diner praised the quality of the tongue and skirt steak, and enjoyed pairing the well-seasoned meat with rice.
One group ordered salted tongue, skirt steak, loin, fillet and short ribs, along with a mixed offal platter. They recalled that the meat was cut generously thick, tender and not overly fatty. The offal mix adds a different texture to the table alongside the leaner cuts and short ribs.
Between rounds of yakiniku, there is a selection of napa cabbage kimchi and chŏreki salad. Cold noodles are one option to finish the meal; the menu also lists bibimbap, stone-pot bibimbap, egg soup and Daegu-tang udon. Choose noodles for a refreshing finish, or opt for soup or a rice dish.
Lunch is served on Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30 to 14:00. Dinner runs from 18:00 to 21:00 on Thursdays and Fridays, and from 17:00 to 21:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. One diner enjoyed lunch with a choice of meats that differed from the evening menu, alongside chŏreki salad and kimchi. Reservations are recommended for dinner, so check the opening days when planning a visit.
